Apple watches 28% increase in iPhone shipment in India: Report

New Delhi:

Apple recorded a 28 percent increase in iPhone shipment (year-after-year) in India in the first quarter of this year (January-March), shown in industry data on Thursday.

According to data given by Cybermedia Research (CMR) report, the iPhone 16 series was the best -selling Apple device, with a 54 percent market share, with the iPhone 15 series a 36 percent stake in Q1 2025.

Apple iPads saw 18 percent annual growth in Q1 2025 as compared to the period of year.

In the entire 2025, iPhones are expected to gain an 11 percent share in the Indian smartphone market, with the iPads 33 percent, data estimated, as the technical giant doubles on local manufacturing.

Apple maintained the pace of its strong growth in India, recording its highest-orbital shipment in Q1 from year to year and Q1.

The iPhone 16 series led by the more accessible iPhone 16E was the major development driver.

CMR, VP-Industry Research Group (IRG) of CMR, Prabhu Ram said, “About three million units were sent in Q1 2025, Apple achieved its strongest first quarter performance in the Indian market.”

As the recurrence of the supply chain collects the recurrence speed, India is emerging as an important center for iPhone production in the coming years.

Ram said that Apple is well deployed to maintain this speed-only through the expanded local manufacturing of iPhones and other products, but through increased investment in its retail footprint, to launch more apple-owned and operated stores.

In parallel, Apple is exploiting India’s skilled talent pool to support its widespread initiatives in retail, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The country is now receiving ‘Make in India’ globally, as the report states that Tech Giants Apple can transfer the entire iPhone assembly to the US by next year. This will be a major step in Apple’s global manufacturing strategy as the company looks to reduce its dependence on China.

Meanwhile, Apple’s contract manufacturers in India are already increasing their operations. Foxconn’s new plant in Bengaluru is expected to be operational this month and can produce up to 20 million iPhones with full capacity.

In the previous year, $ 22 billion $ 22 was assembled in India, with Tamil Nadu -based Foxconn in about 50 percent of Apple’s exports.
