Apple’s foldable iPhone on track to launch in 2026, Samsung display only supplier: report

According to a report, Apple’s foldable iPhone will be launched in the second half of 2026. The first folding iPhone from the Cupertino company will sports the OLED panels developed by the Samsung display, when the foldable display allegedly managed to reduce the size of the crease. There is no word on how many units of Apple are expected to produce, but the foldable iPhone is expected to have high value tags. It will compete with foldables from Oppo, Samsung, OnePlus, Huawei, Vivo and Honor.

Samsung to start the supply of OLED panels of foldable iPhone up to 2025-end

According to a report by Businesskorea, Apple will use oLED panels produced by the Samsung display especially for the first foldable iPhone. The South Korean tech group has succeeded in reducing the crease on internal performance, due to which Apple has not chosen rivals LG display and BOE (Jingdongfang) to produce OLED panels.

The first foldable iPhone will allegedly sports a 5.5 -inch cover display and a 7.8 -inch internal screen. The Samsung will start producing these OLED screens in the beginning of 2025 or 2026, and Apple is expected to launch a foldable handset later next year.

According to Apple Publication, the foldable can produce up to 15 million units of the iPhone, which is about 6 million units higher than an already anticipated. The first foldable from Apple will be against foldables from Samsung in the US and other manufacturers like Oppo, OnePlus, Huawei, Vivo and Honor.

A recent report shows that Apple will equip its foldable iPhone with its standard iPad model, iPad Air and iPad Pro with “approx” 4: 3 aspect ratio. This can help the company ensure software compatibility on the first generation foldable.

The first foldable iPhone is expected to be more expensive than the company’s most expensive iPhone 16 Pro Max model. According to an analyst by Barcale, Apple may determine the price of foldable iPhone at $ 2,300 (about Rs 1,97,000) in the US. With the previous claims, it is in the line that the handset will be priced between $ 2,000 (about Rs 1,71,400) and $ 2,500 (about Rs 2,14,200).
