Assam police arrested behind terrorist group ULFA (i) Commander 2018

Police arrested the terrorist group Ulfa (I) Commander Roopam Asom from the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. He was hidden with his team in a forest.

With the arrest of Commander Roopam Asom, the Tinsukia police also recovered arms and ammunition.

A police source said, “Roopam Asom and his team were hiding in the forest along the Assam-Arunachal border and were planning some activities. The police team got inputs about their presence and started an operation to nab them,” a police source said. NDTV,

Asom is the main suspect behind the 2018 murder of Assam Police Officer Bhaskar Kalita in an encounter. The National Investigation Agency had charged Kalita and other ULFA (I) members including Arunodoi Dahotia to kill Kalita.

Sources said ASOM was also running a forced recovery racket in Tinsukia and Eastern Assam.

Police have started a manhint in border areas to detect and capture other members of the ULFA group.
