The Minister of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday announced the launch of the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (Waves) 2025.
Institute, Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) is ready to become a national center for sector, has already started work and has already aligned with some technology and media veterans for cooperative efforts for IICT. These include the press release included NVidia, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Meta, Star India and Adobe.
IICT is being established by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in strategic cooperation with FICCI and CII as a national center of excellence on the lines of IICT and IIM. The objective of the institute is to change the creative economy by nurturing talent, accelerating innovation and promoting global standards in AVGC-XR space.
“IICT will serve as a catalyst for the entertainment industry, facilitating its global expansion. A major center in the global creative ecosystem,” Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in a statement talking about the initiative.
The first phase of IICT is located in NFDC Building, Peder Road, Mumbai, and has a state -of -the -art facilities including gaming labs, animation labs, edits and sound suits, virtual production setup, emergency studio, a preview theater and many smart classrooms.
The minister also shared that the development of a dedicated 10 acres in Film City, Goregaon in Charan 2 would be seen, which will expand the capabilities and access to the institute. In the coming years, the government has planned to roll out regional centers across India to reach out to reach across the country and promote creative ecosystems.
With training, incubation, innovation, R&D, and policy development, IICT is ready to create innumerable opportunities for young creators, technologists and entrepreneurs in India.
