Bengaluru:
A 35 -year -old man was found dead in his office in Nagwara area of Bengaluru on Friday. In a letter, he alleged that a politically motivated FIR, orchestrated by a local Congress leader, forced him to die of suicide. The person, known as BJP’s executive Vinay Somaiya, accused Congress Executive Officer Tennera Maheena, as MLA, and others at harassment and wrong implications in one case.
Vinay, a native of Somvarpet in Kodagu district of Karnataka, was a administrator of the WhatsApp group “Kodagina Samasegalu,”, where a controversial post against the Congress MLA and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was shared as a legal adviser, Ponnanna. The post had an edited image of Sri Ponnana in the traditional Kodav dress with a toilet, which also had derogatory text.
Subsequently, an FIR was lodged against the person who posted the image and praise of the group including Vinay, who was named the accused No. 3. He was arrested and later released on bail. Despite being in court on the case, Vinay alleged that harassment from police and political figures was going on.
“For the last two months, I have not been under the control of my mind. A person posted a WhatsApp message in the ‘Kodagu problems and suggestions’ WhatsApp group. I, who was made a administrator five days ago, was held responsible for this. A politically inspired cedar was filed against me, and I laid the paper in a written form for my life.
Vinay feared that the authorities intended to labeled him the “miscreant-sheet” and called BJP leaders to financially support his family. He urged the officials to stop the politically motivated FIR, saying that their death should serve as a lesson.
“Tennera Mahena is the root cause of all this. Politically inspired people are sharing their articles on social media and defaming us, even after the High Court stayed on bail and cedar. Even after that, how appropriate it is to call us criminals? I have heard from some sources that a plan to open a Rowdy sheet on me,”
The letter apologized with Vinay and urged the Karnataka BJP unit to help his mother, wife and daughter “socially and financially”.
He said, “Some people may be surprised as to why this is happening after so many days since the incident. I was waiting for everyone to go home and see everyone for the last time. I am bid farewell with my family with those sweet memories,” he wrote in the letter.
Karnataka Home Minister Ji Parmeshwar has promised DCP-level inquiry into the matter. Further investigation is going on in the case.
