BJP MP Ram Chander Jangra ‘apologize for women in women’ says that it was “deformed”

Chandigarh:

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ram Chander Jangra on Sunday claimed that his comment on Pahgam terror victims was “deformed” for political purposes, and had no intention of insulting anyone, as opposition parties demanded his dismissal.

He said, “I do not have any weak behavior with the women of my country in any way … we are standing with women who have lost their husband in the Pahgam attack, we are standing with those families … Still, if I have hurt someone’s feelings, I have no hesitation in apologizing,” he said in a video message.

Mr. Jungra’s remarks that tourists in Pahalgam should have fought a fight against terrorists and women who lost their husbands in the attack, should have acted like ‘Veerangana’ (warrior women), inciting an uproar with Congress, TMC and SP, which accuses BJP of being unmatched and “opponents”.

BJP leader and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar termed Mr. Jungra’s remarks on Pahgam tourists as “wrong” and said the matter should now be closed as he has regretted any injury.

When asked about Mr. Jungra’s comments, Mr. Khattar told reporters in Karanal that it does not reflect the party’s attitude.

“She (Shri Jungra) presented a comment in the wrong context. The sisters lost their husbands in the incident, to say that it is wrong and unfair about her,” Mr. Khattar said.

Former Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Khattar said that Mr. Jungra had expressed regret for any injury due to his remarks. “I believe the matter should now be closed here,” he said.

Shri Jungra on Saturday made a comment while addressing a gathering in Chandigarh at an event organized to mark the 300th birth anniversary of Maratha ruler Ahilibai Holkar.

On Sunday, he tried to justify his comment after facing a flex to several quarters.

“I do not behave weakly with the women of my country in any way. I believe they are brave, and we only need to ignite the spirit of Ahliyabai and Jhansi’s queen so that if such circumstances arise, they can fight the spirit of brave.

“I respect my country’s ‘Veerangnas’, I salute them.

“Our armed forces avenged the Pahalgam attack and taught Pakistan a lesson that it cannot imagine. We can never call our sisters weak, and I believe that we need to only ignite the spirit of the queen of Jhansi and Ahilibai.

He said, “In this context, I had made my comments, but they are getting distorted. Those who are making it a political issue, God gives them ‘Sadbudi’ (better understanding). It only bothers the country and society,” he said.

Opposition party also recently cited objectionable comments made by Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah

After his comment after adding the religion of the terrorists behind the Pelagam strike after his comment to Mr. Shah, Kol Sofia Qureshi triggered a displeasure.

Colonel Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh informed the media along with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Operation Sindoor.

Expressing displeasure over the comments of Mr. Jangra, TMC said in a post on the X handle, “How BJP MP @Rcjangrabjp says that there was a lack of bravery among women in Pahalgam? 26 people lost their lives, and she blames women. It is not just insensitive, it is a wiley and inhuman.”

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also dropped the BJP. “Instead of honoring women, insulting them, condemning them and exploiting them in every possible way is the real face of the BJP, which is disgusting and extremely embarrassing. The BJP is not a party, but a marsh of anti -women mentality,” he accused X.

Meanwhile, while talking to reporters on the occasion of an event in Chandigarh on Sunday, senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot said, “While we all take pride in our armed forces, it makes me sad when some senior BJP leaders worked in the positions responsible for the scaffolding and Raja’s BJP, Pahalgam attack and their families”.

Rohtak, Congress MP from Haryana, deep deep Singh Hooda, who also addressed the media along with the pilot, said that Jangra has destroyed the honor of women whose husbands were brutally killed by terrorists in Pahgam.

She questioned why the State Women’s Commission has not taken any cognizance of these statements so far.

He said, “The whole nation stands with all the sisters and daughters whose ‘vermilion’ has been removed. BJP leaders are constantly making non -responsible statements,” he said.

Mr. Jungra said in a line on Saturday that on April 22, tourists coming to the terrorist attack in Meadows of Basaron in Pahgam, Jammu and Kashmir should have done a fight, and women who lost their husbands should have actually acted like ‘Veerangana’ (warrior women).

He claimed that the number of casualties was small, tourists had to undergo agnivor training, and also said that women lacked the spirit of women.

The terrorist attack left 26 people, most of the tourists, dead.
