Mr. Dubey’s party, BJP, has not yet reacted to its MP’s explosive comments.
The 56 -year -old BJP MP said, “The Supreme Court is responsible for inciting religious wars in the country. The Supreme Court is going beyond its border. If someone has to go to the Supreme Court for everything, the Parliament and the State Assembly should be closed.”
Several petitions challenging the constitutionality of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 include comments in the Supreme Court.
The Center assured the Supreme Court during the hearing held on 17 April. This will not represent any ‘Waqf-by-UGer’ provision and will not include any non-Muslim members in the board. The assurance came a day later when the apex court said it would consider the remaining parts of the law.
The petitioners have claimed that the law violates many rights given by the Constitution, including the right to equality and freedom of religion.
Congress reacts
Condemning Mr. Dubey’s remarks, the Congress said that “the Supreme Court is being targeted”.
“Efforts are being made to weaken the Supreme Court. Various voices are coming intentionally and the Supreme Court is being targeted. The issue of electoral bonds is the issue of Waqf, the issue of Waqf has come to light, the issue of the Election Commission is coming,” Jeram Ramesh of Congress, said the general secretary of communication.
Congress leader Manikam Tagore gave a statement to Nishikant Dubey’s Supreme Court on “defamation” and said that his attack in the apex court is “not acceptable.”
“This is a defamation statement against the Supreme Court. Nishikant Dubey is a person who constantly demolishes all other institutions. Now, he has attacked the Supreme Court. I hope the Supreme Court judges will take it into notice, because he is not in Parliament but beyond it. Their attack on the Supreme Court is not acceptable.
Congress MP Imran Masood said that the statements made by the BJP leader are “unfortunate”.
Mr. Masood said, “The statements coming against the Supreme Court are very unfortunate … This is not the first time that the Supreme Court has given a decision against the government … This disappointment is out of comprehension.”
BJP MP’s stimulating remarks. After the Supreme Court, the final mediator in constitutional matters, order in the Tamil Nadu case, in which it was ruled that Governor RN Ravi’s decision to agree to 10 bills was “illegal and arbitrary”. The Supreme Court bench set a three -month deadline for the President and for the second time the Governorial agreed for the bills passed by the Legislature. The apex court further underlined that it would be prudent for the President to mention bills with constitutional questions in the Supreme Court.
Mr. Dubey’s comments reflected the example of Jagdeep Dhakhar, who raised questions against the judiciary, he said “Therefore we have judges who will enact laws, who will act as a super-parliament”.
“Recently a decision has a instruction for the President. Where are we going? What is happening in the country? We have to be extremely sensitive. It is not a question of someone’s review to file or not. We never negotiate to democracy for this day. The land does not apply to them,” Shree Dhankhar said.
