The BJP on Monday nominated P Venkat Satyanarayana as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-election from Andhra Pradesh.

“The BJP’s Central Election Committee has decided a name (Satyanarayana) for the upcoming election for the council (Rajya Sabha) of the states of Andhra Pradesh, BJP’s national general secretary and in -charge of party headquarters Arun Singh said that the NDA candidate was disclosed.
According to the BJP, Satyanarayana is a lawyer who played several roles in the party in Bhimvaram and also worked as the vice -president of the party for Andhra Pradesh between 2018 and 201.
Currently, Satyanarayana, chairman of the BJP State Disciplinary Committee, was also part of the Kesar Party’s election manifesto for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for the 2014 elections, and the election manifesto of Saffron for the 2014 elections.
He also contested from Narsapuram constituency in the 1996 parliamentary elections.
There was a need for a sub-poll after former-YSRCP leader V Vijayasai Reddy resigned from the Rajya Sabha.
Andhra Pradesh BJP leader Pathuri Nagabushanam told PTI that the strength of the party from the southern state will be two with the election of Satyanarayana.
BC leader R Krishnaiya is the other BJP Rajya Sabha member of the state.
