
Jammu:
Officials said a BSF soldier was killed and seven others were injured in Pakistani firing along with the international border in Jammu on Saturday.
The incident took place in RS Pura sector, he said.
A senior Border Security Force (BSF) official said that Deputy Superintendent Mohammad Imtiz made the supreme sacrifice, while the front was moving from the front.
He, along with seven others, was injured in cross -border firing launched by Pakistan. The official said that when Imtiz died due to his injuries, other personnel were admitted to a hospital.
The Jammu Frontier of the force said in a post on X, “We salute the supreme sacrifice made by BSF Brevhart Sub-Inspector MD Imtoz in the service of the nation on May 10, 2025, while crossing the international border as well as the rupee in the entire region, the District Jammu Frontier said in a post.
It states that BSF Director General and all rank expressed their deep condolences to their family.
The official said that a wreath ceremony will be held at the Jammu Frontier Headquarters of BSF in Palora on Sunday to honor Imtyaz.
BSF has been tasked to protect more than 2,000 km long border between India and Pakistan.
India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that directors of military operations of the two countries had decided to stop all firing and military action on land, air and sea with impact from 5 pm on Saturday.
