Air India CEO Campbell Wilson will quit the post as the chairman of Air India Express and Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India will preside over the budget airline.
Wilson, who is the president of Air India Express from June 2022, will also come out of the board of the budget airline.
In an internal message to the employees on Tuesday, Wilson said that he has decided that the time to step down as the chairman of the Air India Express Board is right for him.
Aggarwal, who is already on the Board of Air India Express, will continue as duties as the Chief Commercial Officer of Air India. According to the message, the group’s network and commercial efforts will enable more coordination.
“Concurrently, to ensure operating coordination between the airlines, Captain Basil Quak, Chief Operations Officer of Air India, will replace me on the Air India Express Board, once the required regulatory approval is safe,” Sandesh said.
According to Wilson, this structural task is being completed to a large extent, now to fully benefit and optimize group fleet, network, sale, distribution and loyalty assets.
The Tata Group acquired Los-Making Air India as well as Air India Express in January 2022.
