CBI files charge sheet in Kiru Hydel Corruption case against former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik

New Delhi:

Officials said on Thursday that the CBI has filed a charge sheet regarding alleged corruption in the prize of former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik and Rs 2,200 crore of seven other rupees.

He said that the agency has filed its charge sheet after three years of investigation.

Other persons nominated in the charge sheet included Ms. Babu, Managing Director of the then Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited (CVPPL), its director Arun Kumar Mishra and MK Mittal, Construction Firm Patel Engineering Limited Rupen Patel and Managing Director of Private Person Kanwaljit Singh Duggal.

In a message on ‘X’ on Thursday, Mr. Malik said that he was admitted to the hospital, not in a position to talk to anyone. The former governor said that he was receiving calls from many well -wishers, which he was unable to take.

The CBI discovered the case in the premises of Mr. Malik and others in connection with the case in February last year.

The case is related to the alleged misconduct in the contract for a contract of Rs 2,200 crore of the Kiru Hydro Electric Power (HEP) project in 2019, the CBI said after the registration of the FIR in 2022.

Mr. Malik, who was the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir from August 23, 2018 to October 30, 2019, claimed that he was offered a bribe of Rs 300 crore to clean two files including a project.

He denied allegations of corruption against him after the agency conducted a search operation last year.

Mr. Malik said that his residence was raided by the CBI instead of investigating those who had complained about and who were involved in corruption.

“They will not find anything other than four-five kurtas and pajamas. The dictator is trying to intimidate me by misusing government agencies. I am the son of a farmer, I will neither fear nor bend nor bend,” he posted online.

The central agency filed an FIR in addition to construction firm Patel Engineering, including the then CVPPPL president, Naveen Kumar Chaudhary and other officials including Babu, Mittal and Mishra.

“Although a decision was taken in the 47th board meeting of CVPPPL for tender again through e-tendering through e-tendering through e-tendering with reverse auction after canceling the ongoing tender
