Certificate warning of many weaknesses affecting millions of iOS and Android devices

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-in) has issued two vulnerability notes, warning users of security defects affecting the equipment running on Android, iOS and iPados. The first denies the vulnerability of the service (DOS) affecting the iPhone and iPad models running on recent versions of iOS and iPados. The second note highlights many flaws affecting Android devices that may allow malicious users to achieve unauthorized access to a device. In both cases, users have been advised to take appropriate action to keep their smartphones and tablets safe.

Android, iOS updates are susceptible tools for DOS attacks

State certified state in vulnerable note Civen-2025-0092 There are several flaws affecting the Android operating system that can be used by an attacker to run dangerous code on the user’s device, and data can be accessed remotely. After receiving high privileges, malicious users can also attack a DOS on the device.

These weaknesses affect smartphones running on Android 13, Android 14 and Android 15 according to certificate. This effectively means that millions of smartphones running on these versions of Android are unsafe for their devices until relevant security patches are installed on their devices.

To stay safe, users have to install the latest Android security patch that were rolled out for equipment in May. Certificate says that the latest May 1 security patch smartphone will be protected from these security flaws. However, users may have to wait as long as these patch smartphones are made available by OEMs, while Google Pixel owners with automated updated should be preserved in advance.

On the other hand, certificate-in Civen-2025-0094 The note states that iPhonedos running before 18.3, running on the software issued before the iPados 18.3, the iPados models (and iPados 17.7.3) are susceptible to a dos vulgarity.

The agency has warned that users who are running on these older versions are at risk of becoming “universal or non-functional” if they run malicious applications that can neutralize them. If they are affected by the dos attack, users will need to restore these devices.

Certificate says that users who have updated iOS 18.3, iPados 18.3, and iPados 17.7.3 should be protected from DOS vulnerability. Given that iOS was released in 18.3 January, many users must have this version on their phone and tablet already. They will also be running at iOS 18.5, which was released earlier this week.
