Chandrababu Naidu urged people to cut salt, oil, sugar to stay healthy

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday urged the people of the state to reduce the intake of salt, oil and sugar to prevent diseases.

He encouraged to last at least 30 minutes a day as health exercises.

Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat on Health, CM Naidu said that the family of four should consume only 600 grams of salt, two liters of edible oil and three kilograms per month.

“Make it a thumb rule: For a family of four, consume only 0.6 kg of salt, two liters of oil, and three kg sugar per month. Many diseases can be controlled in this way,” N Naidu said, especially salt intake, especially, should be very low.

He advised people to practice meditation and pray for at least half an hour a day and to live a stress-free life in a puja room, mosque or church and to avoid illness.

According to N. Naidu, heart disease, diabetes mellitus, respiratory diseases, infectious diseases, chronic kidney disease, cancer, and other Andhra Pradesh are among the top 10 health issues, which are responsible for the burden of 80 percent of the disease.

Heart diseases topped the list, with a prevalence of 18 to 22 percent, diabetes mellitus (12–15 percent), respiratory diseases (10–12 percent), and others.

N Naidu announced that a pilot program, Digital Health Nerve Center (DINC), will be launched on 15 June at Kuppam.

The objective of this initiative is to create 100 percent Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) construction and integrate all electronic health records.

Through DINC, citizens will receive health advice through a dedicated app, with specialist consultation through telemedicine.

The program will also provide the disease prediction, preventive health awareness, alert for missing prenatal checks and advanced analytics for other health solutions.

The pilot will start with five mandals in Kuppam constituency under Phase I, which lasts for three months.

In phase two, it will be extended to 31 mandals in Chittoor district. Depending on the impact, stability, quality and public satisfaction of the model, it will be extended to all 26 districts in a 26 -month time limit.

The Andhra Pradesh Health Department will cooperate with Tata MD and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to design DINC to achieve optimal health results.

N Naidu also announced plans for a mega global medicine in Greenfield capital Amravati. This facility will give home to top hospitals and promote health tourism.

The Central Government has planned to develop 25 Medi-Mahas in collaboration with the state governments under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The Chief Minister said that Andhra Pradesh has offered 200 acres in Amravati for the project.

He said that Qatar, who had invested USD 10 billion under this effort with India, will also be brought on the board for the Amravati Mega Global Medi-City Project.
