Bhopal:
A heartbreaking video has surfaced from the Kino National Park in Madhya Pradesh, in which a female cheetah and her four cubs are being offered water by a member of the team keeping an eye on the rehabilitation process of animals.
The video featured a member of the monitoring team pouring water in a large metal bowl for the cheetah. He then told “Come” in English and Cheetah – named Jwala – immediately responded.
Jwala, which is one of the animals translated from Nabimia under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s project cheetah, contacted him calmly and friendly and started drinking from the bowl. His cubs followed their mother, shown in the video.
Kuno Park is recovering from water scarcity, due to which the authorities are leaving no stone unturned to keep the animals hydrated. Jwala and her cubs had hunted goats before drinking water was filmed.
Local wildlife volunteer Cheetah Mitras says that big cats have started recognizing their voice and orders. Currently, at least 17 cheetahs are moving independently in the Kunu, are actively hunted and expand their area.
Earlier this month, Jwala and her cubs were out of the park for the first time, motivating the villagers to attack her with stones when they were hunted on livestock. He was later safely directed by forest officials.
The objective of the project cheetah is to re -introduce the only major carnivorous species to extinct in independent India. It was launched in September 2022 when the first batch of eight cheetahs was brought from Namibia to India. In February 2023, the second batch of 12 cheetahs was blowed from South Africa.
