Committed to abolish Maoism by 31 March, 2026: CRPF chief GP Singh

Director General of Central Reserve Police Force GP Singh said on Wednesday that security forces are operating “tireless and ruthless” to end Maoism by 31 March 2026.

GP Singh said that the anti-Maoist operation, which began in 2014, has been acute and more focused since 2019, central paramilitary forces have done “shoulder to shoulder” with the state police with the state police, with a commitment to seal the Maoism.

Exposing the effects of operations on the land, he said that in 2014, the number of Maoist affected districts was 35, which has so far reduced to six in 2025, while the number of Naxal -affected districts has increased from 126 to 18.

“The number of violent incidents in 2014 was 1,080, which has come down by 374 in 2024. The number of security personnel killed in Naxal violence in 2014 was 287, which was submerged in 2024. The number of Naxalites reached 2089 during this period,” he said.

He said that 928 Maoists have surrendered to the security forces in 2024, while 718 Maoists have surrendered so far this year.

Security forces are trying to get the Maoists out of their hideout and “fill the vacuum”. In such areas, 320 new security camps have been set up so far, besides 68 night landing helipads.

“We are committed to ending Naxalism through tireless and ruthless operations by 31 March 2026,” he said.
