Ramesh said that Rahul Gandhi had demanded a long -term caste census, repeatedly increasing the issue in public meetings.

He said, “This is a decisive step towards ensuring social justice. It is a victory of crores of people in India. It is a win for all those who have fought for years to equality, equality and representation,” he said.

On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini, while briefing the media about the decisions made by Vaishnav, said that some states have conducted caste surveys, and organized a census in the central government sector.

He said that the Cabinet Committee (CCPA) on political matters has decided to include caste calculations in the upcoming census today.

Shri Vaishnav alleged that Congress governments have “always opposed the caste census”.

“Caste was not included in all census works held since independence. In 2010, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singhji assured the Lok Sabha that the case of caste census would be considered in the cabinet. A group of ministers was formed to consider the subject.
