Paying tribute to Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday that it is due to his inspiration that the country is dedicated to realizing the dream of social justice today.

His principles and thoughts will be strong and will increase the creation of a ‘Atmnirbhar’ (self -sufficient) and developed India, PM Modi said on X.

Ambedkar is recognized for his lifetime conflict for the empowerment of Scheduled Castes and has an important role in drafting the constitution.

Born in a Dalit family in 1891, he was a brilliant student who went abroad to study. The discrimination he got in Indian society turned him into a committed social reformer.

He was the first Law Minister of India. He died in 1956.
