CPI (M) takes out a 3-time MP on objectionable behavior towards female colleagues

Kolkata:

In West Bengal, CPI (M) has expelled a three -time Lok Sabha member, Bansa Gopal Chaudhary from the party on charges of “highly objectionable” behavior towards a female colleague.

On 20 April, the party’s female leader and a former councilor of the Jienj-Azimganj municipality posted a post on the social networking site, accusing Chaudhary of sending his pornographic messages on WhatsApp. He also uploaded screenshots of the messages sent to him allegedly.

He also sought disciplinary action against Chaudhary, who was also a member of the previous Left Cabinet before becoming a Lok Sabha member from Asansol constituency in West Birdwan district of West Bengal. He was currently a member of the party’s West Bordwan District Committee.

The woman claimed that she had brought the case in the party leadership notice in November last year. The matter was sent to the party’s internal grievance committee, which started an investigation.

Chaudhary, however, was denying the allegations from the beginning and claimed that he was a victim of a conspiracy.

Finally, after uploading a screenshot of messages on the social networking site this month, the women leader decided to expel Chaudhary from the party.

CPI (M) leadership announced Chaudhary’s expulsion through a notification issued on Sunday morning. However, in the notification, the party did not expand the reason behind its expulsion.

“As per the notification, Chaudhary refused to achieve the reforms despite continuous efforts by the party’s leadership to do so. Therefore, he was expelled from the party as per the recommendations of the Internal Complaints Committee,” Read the notification.

The leader of a state committee of the party said, “In the context of the strength of the Lok Sabha or Vidhan Sabha in West Bengal, we can be zero. But we never nurture such examples of moral degeneration within the party. But I am surprised whether after being expelled, he will become a property for the Trinomool Congress.”
