Karwar:
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday inaugurated various infra projects at Karwar naval base in Karnataka.
The Union Minister reached the Navy base around 1 pm, where he was given a guard of honor at the parade ground.
The Defense Minister descended on a major basis in a military helicopter, and has been set to spend a few hours here, with several engagement.
The Navy is expanding the important naval base as part of the project ‘Cabard’.

It also shared a video in the post depicting the training stages, which was held on both land and sea under this mission. “The iOS Sea will play an important role in shaping the future of the Indian Ocean region, confirming India’s commitment to forming strong connections with its marine neighbors and working for a safe, more inclusive and safe maritime environment in the Indian Ocean region.
The Indian Ocean ship (iOS) Sagar (security and growth for all in the region) is an initiative towards continuous cooperation with nations according to India’s perspective of mutual and overall progress for security in India (Mahasagar).

In March 2024, the Defense Minister inaugurated several infrastructure projects on this strategically -based basis, developed in the Indian Ocean region in view of India’s long -term security interests.
The first phase of the project cabard was designed to accommodate 10 ships and was successfully completed in 2011.
The infrastructure included a breakwater, a ghat, capable of birthting 10 ships, a 10,000 -tonne ship lift and dry berth, a naval ship repair yard, logistics and armament storage facilities and housing for 1,000 personnel.
On the approval of security for the project’s phase-IIA, the Cabinet Committee had approved for the birthting of 32 ships and submarines, as well as with 23 yardcrafts, the ministry earlier said.
