In a shocking incident, a person tried to rob a senior citizen with two colleagues, with the intention of arranging money to a senior citizen at gunpoint in the Pitampura area of Delhi with the intention of arranging his wife after his divorce. Delhi Police said on Monday that the three accused have been arrested and weapons and goods used in crime have been recovered.
According to the police, on 31 March, a senior citizen received a PCR call at the Police Station Maurya Enclave about a gun. Acting immediately, the police personnel arrived in the scene where the complainant, Kamlesh Arora, wife of Hemant Kumar and resident of Pitampura, 72, narrated the incident.
She told the police, “When I was at home at around 03:30, an unknown person rang the bell, claiming that I had a courier and entered the house.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Police Station Maurya Enclave under Section 309 (5)/3 (5) of the Joint Code (BNS) and Section 25/27 of the Arms Act. The police started an investigation and started analyzing CCTV footage from the cameras installed around the scene. Intelligence information was collected from local sources, and several raids were conducted at suspected locations.
Following efforts to focus, the police team caught two suspects: 25-year-old Pankaj, resident of Budh Vihar Charan-I, and 28-year-old Ram Swami, resident of Mangolpuri. During interrogation, Pankaj admitted that he had committed a crime to collect funds to pay alimony after his divorce. He admitted that a few days before the incident, he and his colleague Harsh saw the elderly couple outside their house and only assumed that they lived there.
Based on this information, 26-year-old co-accused Abhishek alias Harsh, a resident of Badh Vihar Charan-I, was also arrested. In his example, the police recovered a motorcycle, a desi katta (country-made pistol), a bag and clothes worn by the accused during the crime.
