Delhi Mayor and BJP leader Raja Iqbal Singh inspected the Okhla landfill site on Thursday, where, keeping in mind his position, he compared the landfill to Pakistan, saying, “They spread terrorism, and this dirt spreads.”
The Mayor of Delhi also assured the people that the government will soon remove the landfill and work on beautification of the area.
“We conducted a joint inspection today … We promised cleaning for the people of Delhi … Soon this landfill will be removed … These landfill sites are like Pakistan. They spread terrorism, and it spreads dirty.
Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh was accompanied by Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and South Delhi MP Ramveer Singh Bidhuri.
Speaking on the situation of landfill in the country, Mr. Sirsa said that the Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta was working on it and assured that by October 2025, 20 lakh metric tonnes of heritage was removed.
“As soon as the dinosaurs disappeared, these landfills are also disappearing from the country. This is the vision of PM Modi, on which CM Rekha Gupta is working. By October 2025, we will remove 20 lakh metric tons of heritage garbage from here. After that, the mountain will almost disappear,” Mr. Sarsa told ANI.
He further said that the target was to eliminate all the mountains of garbage from Delhi by 2028.
“Our goal is to eliminate all the mountains of garbage from Delhi by 2028. After that, these landfills will remain only in pictures …” he further said.
BJP MP from South Delhi Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, who was also on this visit, said that landfill was the biggest issue in the South Delhi constituency.
“This was the biggest problem in my Lok Sabha Constitution area (South Delhi).
