A statement on Tuesday said that the vigilance unit of Delhi Police has allegedly arrested the head constable for allegedly accepting and accepting a bribe. The accused has been identified as Gajendra Singh, who is posted at Jafarpur Kalan, police station in Dwarka district.
According to officials, Singh, who served as a beat officer, demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the local resident in exchange for allowing construction on private land. A trap was laid on 4 April after the complainant went to the Vigilance Unit. Singh accepted the bribe in his car, but injured a vigilance officer during his escape.
The prevention of the Corruption Act and the prevention of relevant sections of the Indian Joint Code was immediately registered. Singh was suspended from duty and remained run for weeks. His anticipated bail plea by the Rowz Avenue Court was rejected.
The success was on 25 April, when Singh was arrested by the investigating officer of the Vigilance Unit. They have been taken into police custody for recovery of tainted money and further investigation.
The Delhi Police has urged the citizens to report any misuse of authority by their personnel. The department assured that the identity of the complainants would be protected and strict action would be taken against the officials to wrong.
