Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presided over an important meeting on internal security amid growing tension between India and Pakistan after a deadly terrorist attack in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
“Whether it is a police, whether it is Coast Guard or Navy, everyone is on alert. Regular practice and SOP. According to the processes of the war book, we have done all that. We have called for a meeting to review our internal security, and we are in a full warning mode,” he told reporters in Mumbai.
The Indian armed forces met Pakistan a few hours after thwarting a wave of missiles and drone attacks from Pakistan.
While Maharashtra does not share a land border with Pakistan, Mumbai has been a goal for the terror that has come out of the neighboring country for years.
After the Mumbai 26/11 terror attacks, the coordinated security measures have been placed by Pakistan to thwart any dialect to target India through the sea route, to create a three-level security ring with the coastline with the Navy, Coast Guard and Coastal Police.
Mumbai has also organized mock drills along with other sensitive establishments to prepare threats from Pakistan.
The Indian Army said on Friday morning that Pakistani troops launched “several attacks” using drones and other monks along the western border.
The army said that Pakistan also resorted to the “several” ceasefire violations with the LoC.
“The drone attacks were effectively rejected and the CFV (ceasefire violation) was replied,” it said in a post on X, and tagged a video in which a Pakistani military post is being destroyed.
Pakistani troops violated a ceasefire with India after the April 22 terror attack in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, killing 26 people, mostly tourists.
On Wednesday and Thursday intervening night, Pakistan tried to attack military targets at 15 places across India, including Avantpora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Baghinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalod, Udia and Bhoj.
This week, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ and destroyed several terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (POK).
