Tension on Monday captured a border village in South Tripura district, when locals discovered a suspected Bangladeshi drone inside the Indian region.
According to villagers, a farmer first saw a drone in a paddy ground near the Indo-Bangladesh border in Balonukha, under the Bilonia subdivision, informed the local police about 300 meters from the thorny wire fence on the Indian side of the border and immediately to the local police.
He claimed a few days ago, he saw a drone flying in the area from the direction of Bangladesh, which did an aerial survey. They suspect that the recovered device may be the same.
A police team reached the spot and recovered the drone, which was equipped with a camera.
Both the Tripura Police and the Border Security Force have initiated an investigation to determine the purpose behind the origin of the drone and its flight in the sensitive border region.
According to the locals, the drone was seen flying in the area over the last few days, and suspects that it may be generated by Bangladesh of the border.
The 4,096 km of Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura is 857 km. More than 97 percent of Tripura’s international border is stranded on its three sides with thorny wires.
