Face ID certification, physical copies are not required

New Delhi:

In a major step towards digital convenience and privacy, the Center launched a new Aadhaar app on Tuesday, which allows users to verify and share their Aadhaar details digitally – eliminates the need to carry a physical card or submit photocopy.

The app was officially launched by the Union Minister in the national capital by the Central Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnav.

Exposing the importance of digital innovation, the minister described the app as a step to make the app easy, fast and more secure.

In a video message posted on social media platform X, Vaishnav said, “New Aadhaar app, face ID certification through mobile app. No physical card, no photocopy,”

He said that the app gives users the right to share only the required data through safe digital means, and always with their consent.

“Now with just a tap, users can only share the required data, allowing them to get full control over their personal information,” he said.

One of the standout features of the app is face ID certification, which increases security and makes verification comfortable.

Aadhaar verification can now be done by scanning only a QR code, much like paying UPI.

The minister wrote on X, “Aadhaar verification becomes simple as paying UPI.

With this new system, people will no longer need to hand over printed copies of their Aadhaar cards at hotels, shops, airports or any other verification points.

“There is no need to hand over Aadhaar photocopy during the hotel reception, shops or travels,” he said, “he insisted.

The app, which is currently in its beta test phase, is designed with strong privacy security measures.

This ensures that the base details cannot be forged, edited or misused. The information is safely shared and only with the permission of the user.

Vaishnav also emphasized the role of AI and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in shaping India’s digital future, calling the charge “Aadhaar” (foundation) of several government initiatives.

He invited the stakeholders to suggest ways to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) with DPI, so that further increase – while keeping privacy in the core.
