Farooq Abdullah on J&K attack

Srinagar:

Pakistan was stated as a “unsuccessful state”, the National Conference (Nekan) president Farooq Abdullah said on Thursday that the relations between New Delhi and Islamabad would never improve until a government is elected a government in the neighboring country.

Talking to reporters after a party program at NC headquarters, he also said that the people of Pakistan want friendship with India as they warned that there would be dangerous consequences of war between the two countries.

“There is stress, but I cannot say whether this is a final option or not. The rulers of both countries have to decide,” Mr. Abdullah said when asked if he was asked if the war between India and Pakistan was the final option.

However, the former Chief Minister of the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir said that the relationship between the two countries will only improve when the army “goes” and Pakistan has a government.

“I don’t think the relations between India and Pakistan will ever improve until the army goes. The people of Pakistan want friendship with the people, but there is no hierarchy. When the government of the people comes, I am sure that there will be peace between India and Pakistan.”

Calling Pakistan a “unsuccessful state”, the NC President said that instead of working for the betterment of the country, its people and the country’s rulers have chosen a conflict with India to avoid their responsibilities.

“The results will be dangerous if there is a war because both have atomic power. If they use it, only God knows what will happen,” they warned.

Saying that Kashmir was going through “a difficult time”, Mr. Abdullah said that it cannot be predicted what the future is.

He said, “The two countries are preparing to face each other in a battlefield. Efforts are being made all over the world that it should not be (war) and somehow found to do their mastermind as well as their mastermind.

When asked about the exile of Pakistani citizens, the former Chief Minister said that the action was against humanity.

“On humanitarian grounds, I can say that this action is not good and against humanity. They have been living here for 70 years or 25 years or five years, they were here, their children were here, were studying here. They have not hurt India. In fact, they have accepted India. So, it will not have good results.”

For a question about the announcement of the Center for a caste census in the country, Mr. Abdullah said that there was nothing wrong in this.

“People were demanding it from day one, it is not new. It was demanded by the people. It is a good thing. Some say that 11 or 12 crore are Muslims, some 14 and some are 22 crores.

“So, for the first time, we will know how many people are Brahmins, how low castes and how many Muslims, Sikhs or Christians. We know nothing is wrong in it,” he said.

In response to a question about the harassment report of JK residents outside the union region, Mr. Abdullah said that some people have a habit of harassing people but we should not be afraid of them.

“Not only the government, but also other governments are seeing that this does not happen. There are people in our country who say such things or do something like this. They are not worried about what will happen in the country, they have a habit of harassing people.

He said, “(Nathuram) Gods not from here (India), who killed Mahatama Gandhi? There are such people, there will be people there, and we should not be afraid of them,” he said.
