On the successful extradition of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), in its first statement, recalled the mastermind Tavavur Hussain Rana “continuously and concrete efforts to bring the major conspirators for justice in 2008.”
India’s top anti-terrorism anti-terrorism agency said in a statement today, “Rana was being held in judicial custody according to the US for the action initiated under the Indo-US extradition treaty for his extradition. Finally Rana ended all the legal route to stay the move,” said in the statement after the 26/11 attack today.
The district court for the central district of California ordered Tahwur Hussain Rana extradition on 16 May 2023.
The terrorist then filed several litigation in the ninth circuit court of appeals, all of which were rejected. He later filed a petition for a certificate, two captive petitions and an emergency application before the US Supreme Court, which was also rejected, which was also rejected, said the NIA.
The extradition proceedings between the two countries were initiated after receiving a surrender warrant for the wanted terrorist for the Government of India.

Tahwur Hussain Rana allegedly conspired with David Coleman Headley Alias Dood Geelani, and to meet the 2008 devastating terror attacks in 2008 with other Pakistan-based co-assistors with terrorist groups Lashkar-e-Taiba (Late) and Harkat-ul-Jihadi Islamic (Huji).
A total of 166 people were killed and more than 238 injured in the attacks.
