Police said the first year student of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) allegedly hanged himself in his hostel room on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Rikash Kumar Rohidas, a BTech computer science student from Chhattisgarh.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Abhijeet Kumar said that the local Shivkuti police station came to know that a student died of suicide in MNNIT’s Vivekananda hostel.
He said that a police and forensic team inspected the scene and sent the body for postmortem.
The official said that the reason behind the death is currently under investigation.
