Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Indo-Pak tension today for Parliamentary Committee

New Delhi:

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is to appear before the Parliamentary Standing Committee in Foreign Affairs on Monday to provide a comprehensive briefing on recent tensions between Operation Sindoor and India and Pakistan.

The Parliamentary Committee is headed by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and is expected to focus on diplomatic, military and regional implications after Operation Sindoor of the Indian Army.

This meeting comes in view of tensions across the border, which claimed many people and condemned New Delhi.

In response, the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor, which targeted the terrorist infrastructure across the border. The anti -retaliation between India and Pakistan led to an understanding of the two sides on 10 May to prevent enmity due to a several -day military confrontation.

Foreign Secretary Misri is expected to update the panel on several issues, including the current status of diplomatic connections with Islamabad, extensive implications for cross -border security challenges, and regional stability.

Sources indicate that their presentation will focus on how India is re -presenting its foreign policy priorities amidst the changing security environment.

Mr. Misri has earlier informed members on major foreign policy issues, including India’s developed relations with neighboring countries and its diplomatic relations with nations such as Canada.

Briefing added importance to the delicate nature of India-Pakistan relations and the strategic importance of maintaining both military readiness and diplomatic caution.

The Water Resources Committee chaired by BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy will receive briefing from government departments about issues like monsoon -related floods, soil erosion, riverbank protection and transboundary rivers.
