Sources in the company said on Friday that Veteran industrialist and former Bajaj Auto Vice President Madhur Bajaj died here after a brief illness.
He was 73 years old and survived from his wife Kumud and two daughters – Neelima and Nimisha.
Madhur Bajaj was admitted to enter Candy Hospital in South Mumbai a few days ago due to health issues. Sources said that two days ago, he also found a stroke.
He said that he breathed his last at the hospital at around 5 am on Friday.
According to sources, the funeral of Madhur Bajaj was performed in the afternoon at Worli crematorium in Mumbai.
Born on August 19, 1952, Madhur Bajaj, a third generation member of the late businessman and politician Zamanlal Bajaj Kabila, resigned from the vice -president of Bajaj Auto in January last year.
After his schooling from the prestigious Doon School in Dehradun and then in 1973, he did his MBA in the International Institute of Management Development (IMD), Lozen, Switzerland in 1979.
Madhur Bajaj Bajaj Finser Limited, Bajaj Electrical Limited and Bajaj Group were also working as directors of the Group. He was also the chairman of Maharashtra Scooter Limited.
He was also the chairman of the Society of the Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) during 2005-07 and was also the previous president of Pan’s Apex Industries Association, Mahatta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA).
Madhur Bajaj was the recipient of the ‘Vikas Ratan’ award from the International Friendship Society of India to enrich human life and excellent achievements.
“With intense grief, we mourn the tragic demise of Mudoor Bajaj, former vice-president of Bajaj Auto Limited during 2005-07 in the Indian Automobile Industry,” Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle Limited and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Litta Chairman and Managing Director, Shelsh Chandra said.
“He has been an active member of the SIAM Executive Committee and always advocates the construction of a strong motor vehicle industry in India. He played an important role in working with the Government of India in developing a motor vehicle mission scheme from 2006-16, which helped to create a strong Indian motor vehicle industry,” Mr. Chandra said in the statement.
Expressing his condolences on the death of Madhur Bajaj, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, in a post on X, said, “He will also be saddened by the death of former Vice President of Bajaj Auto Limited, Mr. Madhur Bajaj ji, he will also be remembered for his exemplary leadership. Family, friend and well -wishers.”
