Police said on Saturday that the son of late underworld don N Muthappa Rai was allegedly shot by unknown assailants near his residence in Bidadi here. He said that Ricky Rai is currently undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru.
The incident took place near his residence between 1 pm to 1.30 pm (late Friday night) when he was traveling to Bangalore from Bidadi in his car.
According to police, some unknown people allegedly set fire to the vehicle, and a bullet hit the vehicle. He was sitting behind with his gunman, when injuring both the driver and the opinion, the driver was shot through the seat.
He said that a case has been registered and efforts are being made to make the suspects Nab.
