Patna:
Former Union Minister RCP Singh joined Prashant Kishore’s life in Bihar on Sunday, where assembly elections are going to be held later this year.
Mr. Singh also announced the merger of his ‘AAP Sabki Awaz’ with Jan Suraj Party.
In November 2024, the bureaucrat-royalty floated his own party.
He joined Jaan Suraj Party in the presence of his founder Prashant Kishore.
“We will both work together to make Bihar a developed state,” Mr. Singh said at a ceremony here.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s hometown from Nalanda, Mr. Singh was a Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer, and on central deputation, he first came in contact with Mr. Kumar when JD (U) was the Railway Minister in 1999.
After assuming power in Bihar in 2005, Mr. Kumar, who was influenced by Mr. Singh’s administrative skills, persuaded him to come to Bihar as his Principal Secretary.
In 2010, Mr. Singh took voluntary retirement and joined Mr. Kumar’s JD (U), which helped him enjoy two consecutive terms in the Rajya Sabha.
Later, he was also appointed as the National President of JD (U).
However, in 2021, his induction in the union cabinet did not go down well with Mr. Kumar. Mr. Singh stepped into JD (U) as the National President of JD (U) and a year later another Rajya Sabha was denied.
Later, Mr. Singh joined BJP after leaving JD (U) in 2023.
