New Delhi:
India is trying to eliminate retaliation and terrorist threats “to try to eliminate terrorist threats for its sovereignty and people, pre-American National Security Advisor John Bolton NDTV told NDTV on Monday evening after about two weeks of terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir Pahalgam 26 people, mostly citizens, dead.
Mr. Bolton, who was the NSA of President Donald Trump in his first term, admitted to NDTV that India had a “valid right to self -defense” when India faced the threat of terrorism, but also urged Delhi to end all diplomatic paths before starting a military counterstroke.
It is necessary, he said that India has set a record for the rest of the world – that it tried to do everything to ensure a peaceful resolution for this long -standing problem. This, he suggested, Pakistan can be pressured by all its weather colleagues, China to work against terrorist groups on their soil.
“I think Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a major use of restraint through a similar episode in 2019,” he said, referring to the attack in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, weeks before a general election, in which 40 soldiers were killed by Pak-based Jayash-e-Mohammed.
This was followed by the response Swift – airstrikes on Jaish terrorist camps in Balakot, Pakistan.
The Pahalgam attack was claimed by a military reaction-resistance front, a proxy of Lashkar-e-Taiba, another Pak-based terror group-has been expected to be a ‘free hand’ to the armed forces to target and attack and attack the armed forces allegedly.
“… 2019 was not a terrorist attack in India for the first time. This (Kashmir issue) is a sustainable source of tension and risk between two nuclear powers. But, and, and, I hate it to call it a ‘opportunity’, there is a moment that we can urge both sides, ie, America and other party, ‘
“This is a very difficult problem … there is no doubt,” he said that he offered two solutions for diplomatic pressure on Pakistan, to do what it should do – “Install control over your territory and make sure that terrorist attacks have not been started against India or any other country from there”.
“I think there are two possible approaches to take and I am sure the Government of India has already thought about it. No. 1. I am worried about the increasing Chinese influence on Pakistan. It needs to be put on the table between India and Pakistan … India should tell Pakistan, ‘We should solve it and do not let others affect it. Pak should also be concerned about it.”
“And no. 2. India should go to China and say that ‘we expect from you, as a border country with us, to suppress Pakistan to control these terrorist groups. If both of them fail, India can say that we tried to do everything from a diplomatic point of view and avoid significant growth.”
Mr. Bolton also stressed that the Government of India should calculate that in fact, all diplomatic options were abolished, any military response needs to be “precise”.
“I think if India’s vengeance was directed against the group that carried out the attack … if it was accurate … then it will show that there is no major ambition of India (and) It will give Pakistan an opportunity for a face-saver … to step back and resume diplomatic talks ..”
“Even neighbors may disagree … and strongly disagree … but resorting to terrorism is never an acceptable way to express disagreement,” said Mr. Bolton.
