Industrialist Gautam Adani and NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar visited Science and Technology Park (STP) at the Savitribai Phule Pune University campus here on Friday.
Established in 1986, STP is one of the first science and technology entrepreneurs’ Parks (Steps) under the Department of Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development (NSTEDB) under the Department of Science and Technology.
The park supports technology-based startups in areas such as IT/ITE, clean technology and renewable energy.
STP Director General Dr. Rajendra Jagdale said on Saturday, “We had sought the audience with Mr. Adani to give information about our work and to find out how to support the industries. For our surprise, he agreed to travel, and Pawar Saheb provided the meeting facility.”
Mr. Adani and Mr. Pawar spent about two hours in this facility and informed about major initiatives, including more than 1,300 startups and funding support to more than 200 firms, Dr. Jagdel said.
He said that selected innovations were shown during the journey in biofuels, cyber security and AI-based cattle health supervision.
“We also shared our vision for CSR and how technology can change life, including our work with the transgender community. Mr. Adani was impressed and expresses interest in cooperating with us,” Dr. Jagdel said.
