New security and privacy features in Android

In a press release, Mountain view-based tech giants have expanded new security and privacy features that are coming to Android users this year. One of the areas where the company has focused this year is the phone scammers.

Based on research, the company has found that phone scammers often try to do specific tasks on their equipment to take a scam. These may include changing default safety settings or giving increased permission to an app. “To compete with the phone scammers, we are working to block specific tasks and warn you these sophisticated efforts,” Google said.

In particular, these are completely on-devices and apply only when the user has a phone conversation with non-contacts. Some measures include users not to disable Google Play Protect, disabled the sideload of the app for the first time from a web browser, and the new downloaded apps include not providing accessibility permissions.

In addition, Android users will also indicate users to eliminate screen sharing after the call is finished. The device will also warn users whether they are sharing screen while opening the banking app. If it detects sharing the screen with a non-contact, the device will then warn the user about the potential risk of a scam, and will give them the option to eliminate the call and stop the screen sharing with a tap.

The Google message and the AI-operated scam in the phone were released by Google before detecting, and mainly focused on package delivery and job seekers scams. Tech giant is now improving the equipment to protect users from a wide range, including billing fee scam, crypto scam, financial copying scam, gift card scams, technical assistance scams, and more.

These contact keys can be verified in the Google contact app. It will come on Android 10 and new devices later this year.

With Android 16, the Google factory reset is adding more security layers to the safety. Additionally, users will also be given more control over the distance lock facility with a new security challenge question, which is aimed at preventing unauthorized tasks.

Finally, Android will also protect 16 users from One-Time Password (OTP) theft. The operating system is adding a new feature that will not show an OTP on the phone’s lock screen in the “high risk scenarios”, such as when a device is not connected to Wi-Fi and has not been unlocked recently.
