Google is allegedly preparing to expand the availability of check security facility on some Samsung and Google Pixel smartphones. The identity check feature is designed to protect user data and Google accounts from compromising on the theft of the user. When the convenience is enabled, an Android phone will require biometric authentication before allowing any changes in important settings. Apple already provides uniform feature called stole device protection which was introduced with iOS 17.3 updates last year.
Identification check comes at OnePlus 13 via Android 16 beta

The security facility appears similar to the one launched by Google with the previous Pixel drop (Android 15 QPR1) that was rolled out for the company’s smartphone in December 2024. Samsung examined the identity with its Android 15-based UI 7 update.
The code of Android 15 QPR1 and QPR1 will be available in Android 16 when it is rolled out in the coming months, which means that other smartphones should also include identification testing facility when they are updated in Android 16, such as OnePlus 13.
Similarly, the upcoming smartphones that ship with Android 16 out-of-the-box are also expected to come up with an identity investigation facility. Publication suggests that equipment can only support the feature when they are equipped with class 3 biometric authentication.
Once the identity check is available, the user can go setting , Google , Theft Protection , Use identity check To enable the facility. If a user enables the convenience on its Android smartphone, the handset will need biometrics when performing sensitive actions, when it is away from “reliable” locations. These include accessing password or app password and changing the pins of the device or disabled to find my device.
In addition to protecting sensitive device settings from unauthorized access, identity check will also protect Google accounts on a device. It does this by making it difficult for thieves or malicious users to control the user’s Google account, even if they missed the owner’s passcode.
Users may disable the identity probe on smartphones, but it requires biometric authentication. An alternative method allows users to close using the Google account, but it requires an internet connection.
Apple introduced a similar feature called Stolen device protection with iOS 17.3 update, which was rolled out in January 2024. This feature also requires biometric authentication when changing sensitive settings on smartphones, and is available on all iPhone models running iOS 17.3 or later. The arrival of Google’s identity check on more Android smartphones will expand these similar security for more Android smartphone owners in the coming months.
