Helipad air ambulance chopper hit in Kedarnath, all safe

New Delhi:

A video of an air ambulance helicopter that is making an emergency landing in Kedarnath, Uttarakhand, has gone viral on social media after developing a technical snag.

The helicopter allegedly faced a tail rotor malfunction, after which the pilot brought it into the land with great difficulty. Pilot’s quick thinking saved the lives of three people, local authorities said.

In the footage of the incident, the helicopter was coming fast for an emergency landing, but fell less than the helipad and fell in favor of the convenience.

After it landed, the helicopter still turned 360-degree due to the lift generated from the rotar. The people standing near the helipad were seen running towards the helicopter to help them rescue.

News agency PTI said that ‘Sanjeevani’ helicopter ambulance was operated by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Rishikesh.

Two doctors and a pilot who were in helicopters are safe, District Tourism Development Officer Rahul Choubey said.

The air ambulance came to Kedarnath to save a pilgrim suffering from breath crisis when he developed a technical snag in his tail rotor and made emergency landing, Mr. Choubey said, who is also the nodal officer for helicopter service.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will investigate the incident, Mr. Choubey said.
