The AI era is here, and with it, the AI News anchor is becoming a reality, the way we consume news. India’s AI news anchor landscape is also rapidly expanding, many channels and organizations adopted a significant change in the country’s media industry, to inform digital presenters. On Wednesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma showed the AI-managed virtual anchor Ankita.
The video recently highlighted Ankita by providing a detailed report on the latest update from the Assam cabinet meeting. A natural appearance and an fluent Assamese-moved voice, including a significant human characteristics, was designed with characteristics, Ankita presented important decisions and discussions from the meeting with clarity and accuracy.

Another said, “At least one real person should have been hired, this would have a job opportunity.” One third said, “Ankita the AI Anchor is a cool concept – the rule makes the update very accessible.”

These AI-operated avatars, run by advanced natural language processing and realistic text-speaking technologies, provide news with human-like flow, tone and expression. Leading in countries like China, where Xinhua’s AI anchor “Shin Shiawei” Debut in 2018, the trend is spreading globally. AI anchors offer 24/7 availability, multilingual abilities and cost efficiency, eliminating the need for salary or brake. They can be adapted to adapt the accent or appearance immediately, suit the diverse audiences.
While the AI anchor is unlikely to change humans soon, their integration is re -shaping industry, challenging technology combination with journalism and traditional assumptions of news distribution in a developed digital age.
