Officials said the attack took place in Besaran, which is only accessible by legs or pony, where a group of tourists came this morning.

According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Union Home Minister Amati Shah and asked him to take stock of the situation. Sources said that Mr. Modi asked the Union Minister to take “appropriate measures” and go to the site.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called the attack “hatred”. “The criminals of this attack are animals, inhuman and worthy of contempt. No words of condemnation are enough. I send my sympathy to the families of the deceased,” they posted on X.
