The government on Monday announced a three -day state mourning as a mark of respect on the death of Pope Francis.
Francis, who was the first non-European Pope in about 1,300 years, died on Monday. He was 88 years old.
In a statement, the Ministry of Home Affairs said, “Purity Pope Francis, the highest Pontif of the holy C, died on 21 April. As a mark of honor, the three -day kingdom mourning will be seen all over India.” According to the schedule, a two -day state mourning will take place on 22 April (Tuesday) and 23 April (Wednesday). The statement said that one day kingdom will be on the day of mourning funeral.
During the period of mourning of the state, the national flag will be flown on all the buildings in half mast across India where the national flag is regularly flown and there will be no official entertainment, it said.
