Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir):
The Jammu and Kashmir administration is actively assessing the damage and recently intensifying relief efforts in the border areas affected by the Line of Control (LoC), the Union Chief Secretary Atal Dulu said.
“You noticed that shelling from across the Line of Control has targeted civil areas. Many people have been injured, many have lost their livestock, and their houses were damaged,” Mr. Dulu said on Tuesday.
Following the Operation Sindoor organized by the Indian Armed Forces in vengeance for the Pahgam attack on 22 April, the huge border shelling by Pakistan had damaged homes and religious places in Kupwara, Uri and Ponch in Jammu and Kashmir. Despite this, the local people vowed to stand with the Indian Army.
He said that the local administration is working to provide immediate relief. “Now, the local administration is working to quickly assess the situation and provide relief as soon as possible.”
Providing an update on the Border Security infrastructure, Mr. Dullu said, “There are about 9,500 bunkers in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir. But the demand for more bunkers is still present, so we will build more, and there will be no shortage of bunkers.”
On the range of losses in affected areas, he said, “How much damage has been done to the entire district, how many houses have been damaged, currently this evaluation is going on.”
Earlier on Tuesday, the Indian Army managed to dismiss the unemployed shells in residential areas of the villages near the Line of Control (LOC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, CM Abdullah also inspected community bunkers in Tangadh and visited the shelling-affected areas.
After meeting residents affected by cross -border firing in Kupwara, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the government would compensate people after completing the assessment of damage.
“By the grace of God, we have not lost any life here, but of course, there is a loss of public property like homes, shops and a Madrasa. The district collector is with us. They will assess the loss. The evaluation will be completed by today or tomorrow, and then the government will be made as distribution. Abdullah told the media persons.
J&K Chief Minister visited Pakistani shell-affected areas in Tangdh and said that the affected residents have shown “remarkable courage”.
“Taunted the shell-affected areas of Tangdhar and met families who have shown remarkable courage amid deep pain. Their flexibility is inspiring. The government stands shoulder to shoulder with them, their pain will not pay attention to anyone, and will take every possible step that they will be helped to re-create their lives with dignity and renewed hope.”
After India and Pakistan understood the end of enmity, life gradually returned to normal state in Jammu and Kashmir.
