India reduces relations with Pakistan


New Delhi:

India on Wednesday dowry diplomatic relations with Pakistan and announced a fleet of measures, including closing the Attari land-transit post, in view of the expulsion of Pakistani military attachments, suspension of more than six decades of Indus Water Treaty and cross-border links for Pahgam Terror Attack.

A day after the Brezen attack that kills 26 citizens, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) met this evening under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and led the anti -Delhi -Delhi -based measures to be denying and directed security forces to maintain high vigilance.

In a late evening media briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced the decisions, saying that the overall strength of Pakistani and Indian High Commissions would be brought down to 30 through the current 55 further cuts, affecting by 1 May.

New counterparts measures shut down some existing diplomatic mechanisms between the two sides, which are still reduced by bilateral relations.

The Foreign Secretary said that the CCS pledged that the criminals of the Pahalgam attack would be brought to the account and their sponsors.

Mr. Misri said that the CCS was given a briefing on the incident, including the “cross -border linkage” of the terrorist attack.

Mr. Misri said that “Defense, military, Navy and aerial advisors have been declared personality non -Grate at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi” and they have a week to leave India.

He said that India will withdraw its defense, Navy and aerial advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.

“These posts have been canceled in the high commissions concerned. Five assistant employees of service advisors will also be withdrawn from both high commissions,” he said.

The CCS that lasted for two-and-a-half hours decided to close the integrated check post in the attic with immediate effect. This is the only operating land border between the two countries.

Mr. Misri said that Pakistani citizens would not be allowed to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Rebate Scheme (SSES) and any such visa issued to Pakistani citizens in the past was canceled.

The CCS decided that the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty would be held with immediate effect, until Pakistan reliably and irreversible ends its support for cross -border terrorism.

On closing the integrated check post in the attic, Mr. Misri said that those who have crossed with valid support can return by that route before May 1.

He said that the CCS was explained in detail on the terrorist attack in Pahgam on Tuesday, killing 25 Indians and a Nepali citizen.

“Many others faced injuries. The CCS condemned the strongest conditions of the attack and expressed their deep condolences to the families of the victims and hoped for the initial recovery of the injured,” Mr. Misri said.

He said, “Many governments around the world have received strong expressions of support and solidarity, who have unevenly condemned this terrorist attack,” he said.

The Foreign Secretary said that the CCS filed its praise for such feelings, which reflects zero tolerance for terrorism.

He said that in CCS briefing, the linkage was brought out from across the border of the terrorist attack.

He said, “It was noted that the attack came in view of its stable progress towards successful holding and economic development and development of elections in the center area (Jammu and Kashmir),” he said.

Mr. Misri said that the CCS reviewed the overall security situation and directed all forces to maintain high vigilance.

He said, “It was resolved that the criminals of the attack would be brought to the account and their sponsors.”

He said, “With the recent extradition of Tahwur Rana, India would be incredible in search of those who have carried out the acts of terror, or hatched a conspiracy to make them possible,” he said.
