The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully operated the release trial of long distance glide bomb “Gaurav” from Sukhoi aircraft. “Gaurav” is a 1,000 kg square glide bomb that has been designed and developed indigenously by DRDO.
The Ministry of Defense said on Friday that the trial held from April 8 to April 10 from April 10 to April 10 demonstrated a limit of about 100 km with pinpoint accuracy.
This test is paved the way for the induction of weapons in the Indian Air Force (IAF), it said.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh appreciated the concerned DRDO, IAF and industry partners for successful development tests of “Gaurav”.

He said that the development of long distance glide bombs will increase the capabilities of the armed forces to a great extent.
The ministry said, “DRDO successfully conducted the release trial of long distance glide bomb (LRGB) ‘Gaurav’ from SU -30 MKI aircraft between April 8 and April 10.”
“During the trials, the weapon was integrated to several stations in various warhead configurations with the land target on the island,” it said.
DRDO successfully conducted the release tests of the 1000 kg square long distance glide bomb (LRGB) ‘Gaurav’ between 4 8–10, 2025. Pinpoint is a major boost for indigenously developed weapons, to achieve 100 km range with accuracy. #IAFStrike capacity.
