New Delhi:
India conducted an indigenously designed and developed multi-influence ground mine (migm) and a under-watered naval quarry verification tests, designed to work against modern secret ships and submarines.
Development Organization (DRDO), India’s leading defense research agency and the defense research of the Indian Navy “fought firing” the mine. The system has been developed by Navy Science and Technical Laboratory, Visakhapatnam in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories.
DRDO shared a video of the test that caused a underwater explosion with low explosives. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also congratulated the DRDO and the Navy for successfully taking the exam. Mr. Singh said, “This system will further enhance the Indian Navy’s undersis war capabilities.”

Bharat Dynamics Limited, A production partner of the system said, “An MIGM is equipped with several sensors for recording effects such as acoustic, magnetic, pressure, UEP/ELF signatures generated by sea vessels.” Visakhapatnam and Apollo Microsystems Limited are also partners in production.
Underwater mines have been central for naval war for many centuries. During World War II, British, American, Japanese and Germans laid mines on sea routes. According to an estimate, several million naval mines were placed in the sea during the war.
MIGM’s verification tests come at a time when tension between India and Pakistan on 22 April is high after the terrorist attack, in which 26 citizens associated with Pakistan killed 26 civilians.
Last month, a guided missile destroyer of the Indian Navy destroyed a marine-scale target in “precise cooperative engagement”. The test was done two days after the Pahalgam attack.
