PM Modi, who is in the midst of a stand-off after the terrorist attack in Pahgam with Pakistan, had a telephone conversation with his UK equivalent Sir Kire Stmper and invited him to visit India.
The PM stormer has said that strengthening the alliance and reducing trade obstacles with economies around the world is part of their plan to give a strong and more secure economy, the government said in a statement.
One is expected to “balanced, justify and ambitious FTAs, goods and services covering trade in goods and services, increase bilateral trade, generate new avenues for employment, raise standard of living and improve the overall welfare of citizens in both countries,” read the statement.
This will unlock the new ability to develop products and services jointly for global markets for both countries.
Both nations have been working towards a free trade agreement since the tenure of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
But the process took time as the authorities worked to exclude several controversial points, including visas issues for Indians, tariffs and scotch whiskey for UK exports, and UK’s carbon border adjustment mechanisms or cabm-one tax on carbon-intelligence items such as steel and fertilizer.
