iPhone 17 Air Leaks: 5.5 mm thin form factor from 120Hz promotion display, what is expected

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be the newest addition to Apple’s iPhone lineup this year. This is a rumor to arrive as a competitor for the Galaxy S25 Edge-Samesung’s ultra-slim smartphone. In recent months, the rumor mill has provided us a lot of information about the alleged handset. Reports have indicated a construction that is only 5.5 mm thin. In addition, the iPhone 17 Air 120Hz may also be the first non-ex-iPhone model to sports a promotion display.

Before its launch at an Apple event in September, here is everything we know about the iPhone 17 Air.

iPhone 17 Air Leak

Several reports including one from the industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo have indicated that the iPhone 17 Air will have a very thin profile. It comes in 5.8 mm compared to the Galaxy S25 edge, compared to 5.5 mm in a thickness of 5.5 mm. If it becomes accurate, it will not only make the iPhone 17 the thinnest iPhone to date, but will also be one of the thinnest products in Apple’s portfolio.

Moving forward, the handset has been reported to sit in the case of display size between iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, which is coming at 6.6 inches. It can be a promotional panel, which supports up to 120Hz fresh rates. So far, Apple has provided only 120Hz screen on its Pro iPhone model, while the standard lineup still has a 60Hz refresh rate.

Meanwhile, some reports also suggest inclusion of 90Hz panels on iPhone 17 Air.

Under the hood, it is expected to come up with the same chipset similar to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. However, it is expected to be a bind version of the A19 Pro SOC, one of which is disabled.

For optic, the iPhone 17 Air will allegedly introduce a 48-megapixel fusion camera at the back. It is expected to have similar capabilities as primary shooter on the latest iPhone 16 series. On the front, the alleged handset may have a new 24-megapixel selfie shooter. Other models in the iPhone 17 lineup are also expected to get this upgrade.

According to reports, the iPhone 17 Air will only become another iPhone, which will have its connectivity features operated by ownership technology. It is said to come up with the C1 modem which started with the iPhone 16E earlier this year.

We can expect more information on the surface near the launch of the iPhone 17 series, which is reported on September 19.
