iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Apple added to the list of vintage and obsolete products

Apple has updated its list of vintage and obsolete equipment to include two more iPhone models – iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8. These smartphones are now considered old and their service and repair will be limited. Cupertino-based tech giants usually stop hardware service for certain products that are technically obsolete due to difficulty and difficulty in repairing sourcing parts, although it still continues to support them through software updates.

The iPhone 7 Plus was launched globally with the iPhone 7 in 2016, priced at Rs. 72,000 for 32GB version. It was closed after the introduction of the iPhone 11 series in 2019.

Meanwhile, Apple launched the iPhone 8 at its first event held at Apple Park in 2017. This made its debut with the initial price of RS. 64,000 for 64GB storage models, with iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. The phone distribution for sale was discontinued by Cupertino-based tech giants in 2020 after the release of iPhone SE (2020).

Apple classifies as models vintage and obsolete?

According to Apple, a product is considered a vintage if their distribution for sale has stopped more than five but less than seven years ago. While they are still eligible for service and repair, it is subject to the availability of parts.

Meanwhile, the company says that a product is obsolete if it stopped distributing them for sale more than seven years ago. All hardware services, including repair by Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASPS), are discontinued for such devices. In addition, service provider cannot order parts from Apple for classified products as obsolete.

Although Mac laptops are still especially eligible for an extended repair period for the battery, up to 10 years when the model was distributed for final sale, but it is still accidental on the availability of parts.

Apple says that demon-branded beats products are considered obsolete, whether they were purchased. Some of the most popular vintage models include original iPhone, iPhone 4, iPhone 6s and iPhone X.
