Jain monks attacked after refusing to pay money to drunk men in Madhya Pradesh

A police officer said on Monday that people allegedly attacked three Jain monks, who were resting in a temple, who were resting in a temple, who were refusing money in Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh.

Acting fast, the police arrested five persons and detained a minor boy – all of them – from Rajasthan – for attacks that took place in Singoli Town on Sunday and Monday night.

The attack invited a strong condemnation from the Jain community, which called for a closure in the city of Singerly. It developed near the total reaction with almost all shops.

The state government, meanwhile, such incidents will not be tolerated and criminals will be severely punished.

Accused Ganpat Nayak, Gopal Bhoe, Kanhaiya Lal, Raju Bhoe, Babu Sharma and the Minor Hail from Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh District, which is close to neemuch, the official said.

“Jain monks Shailesh Muni ji, Balbhadra Muni Ji, and Munindra Muni Ji stayed to rest in a Hanuman temple, when the accused reached there on three motorcycles and asked for money after consuming liquor,”

Three monks, who faced injuries on their heads and back, were taken to a nearby hospital, but refused to do medical treatment citing religious rituals, which refused to do so after sunset according to the police.

Police said they were taken to a medical facility run by the Jain community after sunrise on Monday.

Five accused were arrested and they were booked under the stringent sections of the Indian Joint Code, Neemuch Superintendent of Police (SP) Ankit Jaiswal told PTI.

Assuring strict legal action against the accused, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that such incidents in the state will not be tolerated.

Talking to reporters in Indore, Mr. Yadav said, “I have received information that some people abused Jain monks after consuming alcohol. We immediately formed a police team and arrested all the accused.” In the statement, Neemuch police said the accused voluntarily have been accused of hurting money, riot and joint criminal obligations under sections 115 (2), 119 (1), 191 (2) and 3 (5) under sections 115 (2), 191 (2) and 3 (5) under sections 115 (2), 119 (1), 191 (2) and 3 (5).
