Jammu -Kashmir Ramban residents after landslides

Residents in Ramban in Jammu and Kashmir are assessing the damage due to landslides starting with heavy hailstorms, saying that they had lost commercial property and homes.

Three people were killed when he collapsed at his house due to landslides.

“I live on the other side, but there too, the flow of water was very strong, we could not make it here on time. When I arrived here, I saw the entire market with my shop, had disappeared … This is the first time I am looking at something like this,” Om Singh, a Ramban resident Om Singh, told news agency Annie.

Some houses damaged by landslides were visible behind Mr. Singh.

Ravi Kumar, a shopkeeper from Ramban, said that he has two shops, both disappeared overnight.

“I had two shops in the market … When we came to know at 4 in the morning that the entire market was washed, we ran here that nothing was left there,” Mr. Kumar said.

“We did not know who to contact for help, what to do; We were clules.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Kulbir Singh said that all police stations have been alerted, and some 100 people have been rescued from Dharam Kund.

Sunil Kumar, a local resident, has been destroyed to damage his new car with landslide.

“I was traveling from Jammu to Srinagar. Since it was raining, I booked a hotel in Ramban at 3 o’clock, the incident happened. When I came out, I saw that two floors of the hotel were inside the debris. About 15 people were on the top floor. They saved everyone.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said in a post on X that the officials are in touch with the local administration so that wherever needed, to ensure immediate rescue efforts.

Union Minister and region MP Jitendra Singh said that the National Highway 44 is blocked due to loss in Ramban. He said that he is in touch with the Deputy Commissioner and people affected by natural disaster are being given relief.

Local officials said some 40 houses were damaged when a flash flood was killed by Dharam Kund village. Ten houses were completely damaged while the rest suffered partial loss.

Officials said more than 100 stranded villagers were rescued by the police.

Indian Army personnel Ramban flash are providing food, medicines and assistance to the people affected by floods.
