Jharkhand Hospital where 3 killed in roof collapse

Yesterday, three patients caught fire at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Jamshedpur were released by their families. These abandoned patients were kept in a dilapidated balcony of the hospital.

The three who were unable to die, said that one of the patients sharing the balcony said. He said, “We did everything for them, bathed them and got their food.”

Overall, there were 15 such patients. He said that 12 who could run were evacuated on time.

Asked why he was kept in the balcony, he said, “Earlier there was a cylinder explosion and we were removed from here. Then they repaired the place and the contractor gave his approval and he returned us again … which cares about us? We have left by our families. Only the authorities can answer it”.

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital, the largest, is about 55 years old in the region and is in a dilapidated position. On Saturday, a part of the second floor corridor of the medicine ward collapsed, bringing the debris down on the head of the patients on the lower floor and triggered the massive chaos.

“We were sitting there and suddenly we heard a crack and then saw a huge place open. Within seconds, the floor started collapsing and spread. The whole corridor fell inside. Our four friends who were sitting there.

Local people and opposition leaders have accused the administration of negligence, alleging that the warnings about the deteriorating condition of the building were ignored.

Former Chief Minister Raghubar Das said, “Innocent life has been lost due to the negligence of the government. It is time for the administration to wake up and ensure that such tragedies have not been repeated”. Jharkhand BJP President Babulal Marandi has demanded a high-level investigation and strict action against them.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has promised a long -term action plan to prevent equal accidents.
